Crime Stoppers

Police often need the public’s help to solve crimes, so the Sterling Police Department has a Crime Stoppers program

Program details
As part of the Crime Stoppers program, witnesses and others with information can receive a monetary award, if their tips lead to an arrest and charges filed against a suspect, while remaining anonymous. Awards range from $50 - $2,000, but higher awards have been made to tipsters providing assistance in more serious crime categories.

Total awards since Sterling Police Department Crime Stoppers formed in 1985 equal approximately $7,445.00 and tips provided to Crime Stoppers have resulted in about 40 cleared cases.

Help solve crimes
People interested in sharing information about unsolved crimes can call the Crime Stoppers hot line, (970) 522-3937, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Those leaving information can remain anonymous.
