About the SPD

The Sterling Police Department consists of 23 sworn police officers and 6 civilian employees.  The department operates 24/7 with two Divisions: Support Services and Operations. We serve the largest city in the northeastern part of Colorado which is a farm-ranch community with deep roots in the Colorado prairie. The members of the Sterling Police Department place a special emphasis on community policing as we strive to provide the highest quality law enforcement services possible.

While our primary focus is to provide public safety and ensure a high quality of life to all who work, live and visit our community, we continue to build strong partnerships with our citizens and earning the trust and respect of the people we serve. Our most valuable resource to achieve this is the men and women of the Sterling Police Department. We are fortunate to have a highly skilled and dedicated workforce who are committed to providing top-notch service to our community. In order to ensure we continuously we follow specific procedures and plans with well-defined strategic priorities, goals, strategies and performance measurements. Utilizing our talented team to implement a solid strategic plan will ensure a safe and secure future for the City of Sterling.
